She's Feeling Creative Again....

So, Spring has sprung and maybe you are feeling like you need a new creative project.
If you know me at all you know that I love a NEW project.  I don't have
as much "sticktuitiveness" as I "should", but I can't help it...there are so many fun things out
there to try I just want to try as many as possible.
But...
I need guidance.
Therefore...
I look to books, blogs and magazines for inspiration....new projects, new ideas, new creative endeavors.

Katherine Dunn inspires me....in many ways...her blog, her farm, her dedication to animals, people
and her art.   Though we are only "bloggy friends",  her sincerity shows through so clearly in her art, it is easy to admire not only her work, but her
as a person.
I was so excited when she wrote this book.  It truly is a guide to finding your
OWN creativity...
So....
Check out her new book trailer on the above link,
then consider trying something new this Spring...
The book is available on her Apifera Farm site and at
Amazon.
Have a great weekend!

Pino Needs Help

You may recall that I was one of

has one of the kindest hearts of anyone I know of, and has decided to
adopt three more rescue donkeys (see above link for story) from Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue.
Doing so is not cheap.
As one of Pino's Pie Ambassadors, I would like to help
Katherine raise a little money for her cause.
You might recall that I recently participated in a local trunk show and
as luck would have it, had four cute little aprons left over!

I would like to sell these aprons (which would arrive just in time for Christmas!)
and send the proceeds (100%) to Apifera for Katherine's
Adoption Project.
The aprons are handmade with a handtowel,
a fabric ruffle, rick-rack and ribbon.  They are really practical for
anyone who likes to cook because you can use the towel to wipe your hands AND
keep your clothes clean!
If you are interested in helping Katherine and Pino
adopt the three needly little donks by purchasing one of these four little
aprons, please email me at
and I will happily send one your way just as
soon as I receive your check.
I am selling the aprons for $17.00 each
plus $3 shipping.
If aprons are not your thing, do check out the
and see the other donation opportunities and
Katherine's latest book.
Thanks a bunch!

Pie Day

Katherine Dunn of Apifera Farm celebrated Pie Day last month and I am finally getting around to
sharing some of her beautiful photography with you.    Since Farm and Fru Fru is
surrounded by an invisible fence of about a 50 mile radius, and neither the farmer or I travel outside
that fence, I did NOT make it to Oregon to celebrate Pie Day in person.  Katherine, however,
took many beautiful photos which you can see here.  This year at Pie Day......
Donkeys were petted......

Aprons were purchased all for good causes......

Kids were enchanted.......

Hooves were painted......

Hugs were given and received.....

Pies were baked........

...and eaten......

and everyone who is anyone was there.....

By all accounts, it was a great day.
Thanks to Katherine, her dirt farmer, and her animals for sharing Apifera Farm and Pie Day
with Farm and Fru Fru and for allowing me to be a
PIE AMBASSADOR!
Can't wait till next year...

lavender

Is there anything that smells better than
lavender?

My lavender is just beginning to bloom.  I confess, I have not been too successful in growing it, but when it does flower, I love to pick some and put it around in the house for freshen things up a bit...
One thing though, it has to be REAL lavender.  Nothing smells worse than imitation lavender....as in air freshener...yuck.

If you don't have any lavender, let me suggest you go to Apifera Farm and order some....then make some nice little sachets by stuffing a teeny-tiny "pillow" with the buds and place them in your clothes, shoes, or anywhere else that needs......freshening....

Aprons flying

As you read this, Pino's aprons are winding their way across country for the Apifera
Pie Party.  I would like to thank each and every one of you who
donated an apron for Katherine Dunn's upcoming fete'.  As Pie Ambassador, I was
so pleased to be able to send 16 aprons to Pino from Farm and Fru Fru readers!
That was quite an achievement and I thank again all who donated.
The Pie Party will be held toward the end of June...maybe the 27th...not sure, so check
the website for photos etc closer to the event.  Thanks ya'll donkey lovers!
Oh and thanks so much for all the emails etc expressing sympathy at our loss of
Coco...I hate hate hate that he is gone...too sad to write about...but your concern is uplifting and touching..thank you so much...and my foot is healing nicely...here's to better days ahead...I hope!

Pino Calls for Aprons

Katherine Dunn of Apifera Farm is an artist, farmer, writer, baker of pies and lover of all animals, especially donkeys...

...she illustrates stories with her charming drawings....

...and paints the most beautiful pictures.

She's written a book which is coming out in November.

Katherine shares her farm with the very young.....

both people and animals...

...and the...not so young.

Once a year, she bakes pies....lots of pies....and invites people to come and share her farm...
and her pies...

and she sells aprons to raise money to support senior animals and then be able to hold private pie parties for hospice workers, senior citizens, school groups etc...so they can enjoy pie...

...and the donkeys of Apifera.

This year, I am excited to be a....PIE AMBASSADOR!  This means, I am collecting aprons to mail to Pino and Katherine in Oregon for pie day.
If you would like to contribute one...vintage or new, please contact me at
and I will send it on to Pino.  This will be my LAST CALL for aprons, as I hope to mail them out by the middle of the month.  I would love to include your offering in the apron package.
And be sure to visit Apifera to see more of Katherine's art, donkeys, farm and charitable endeavors.
