Today marks the first of my First Friday Features. On the first Friday of each month I hope to interview a different picture book character. Little Chicken of Little Chicken's Big Day
is my first guest and I am so excited!
Thanks for coming today Little Chicken.
S: Little Chicken, now that you are the star of your very own book, do you find that people treat you differently?
LC: Nah, they still just pay me chicken feed.
S: I feel your pain. Your "I hear you cluckin' Big Chicken" has become a catch phrase for chickens everywhere. What do you say to that?
LC: I hear you cluckin' big chicken.
S: What adventures do you see in your future Little Chicken?
LC: I'd like to attend preschool and make some new friends. Learning to fly is also on my bucket list.
S: Both are certainly adventures worth working towards. Your creators Katie Davis and Jerry Davis...any interesting projects you can share with your fans?
LC: They're pecking away at something, but if I told you, I'd have to make you cross the road.
S: Please, not that! Lastly, do you prefer your corn cracked or whole?
LC: Jimmy cracked corn and I don't care. Frankly, I prefer rutabagas!
Thanks Little Chicken. We are watching you. We know there are lots of big things in your future!
Also a special thank you to Katie Davis, who along with her husband Jerry, is the creator of Little Chicken's Big Day. Katie publishes a fabulous blog featuring all sorts of helpful info about KidLit. She also has a newsletter and appears monthly on ABC's Good Morning Connecticut recommending great books for kids and produces Brain Burps About Kids her famous podcasts.
I will add a personal note here and say that her e-book How to Promote Your Children's Book
is an in-depth look at promoting your book that includes links, tips, and really just everything you need to know about marketing, blogs, websites, book trailers, marketing materials etc. I cannot say enough good about it.
Thank you so much Katie for allowing Little Chicken to visit my little First Friday Feature.
