Country Living Magazine has a wonderful website full of lots of fun ideas...here are a few I liked. These polka dots are embroidery hoops with fun fabric stretched to make a pretty (and inexpensive) wall design.
And here is an old tin tray repurposed into a message board...
And with picnic season just around the corner, how about this little bucket hung from a twine string with a little clip tied on full of pretty posies to keep your tablecloth from blowing across the field?
Now, all you need is food and you are set for fun...

Regarding brothers - My older brother is the "golden child" and it's often said of him that "he'd find diamonds in a pile of sh..". I hear you sister and loved the visual of your car door flying open going around the corner :)
Regarding overalls - they are everywhere here! I've never lived in a country town before here in Kansas and I think they are so charming. I'll have to start paying attention to the labels when I see people wearing them ;o)
Regarding your photography - that picture of the cow looking through the tree blossoms is amazing!
